Trading native Amazonian fruit juices on an industrial scale is the business of Oka, founded in August 2018. The company intends to be a national reference in the production of foods associated with the conservation of the Amazon rainforest.
Today, Oka produces tropical and Amazonian fruit juices such as acerola, guava, pineapple, cupuaçu, taperebá, bacuri and buriti, sold in 300ml and 900ml packages at 70 points of sale, with coverage in Greater Belém (PA). The company works with the expectation of expansion to other states.
The production of juices with fruits from the Amazon is directly linked to sustainable production and maintenance of the standing forest, through an integration between industry and farmers. It promotes a sustainable value chain, trains and prepares family farmers to adopt agroforestry systems, generating income and solving problems of soil degradation, deforestation, recovery of areas previously destined for pasture or unsuitable for planting.
Currently, OKA buys pulps from ten small farmers from the ANPROTERRA association and begins work with rural producer associations in the municipalities of Terra Alta and Augusto Correia. There are more than 160 families working in the production of fruit and pulp, integrated with the company in the preservation of the Amazon through the increase of areas in agroforestry systems and sustainable management of Permanent Preservation Areas.
OKA produces a line of juices with tropical fruits (acerola, guava, passion fruit and cashew) and a line of Amazon fruits (cupuaçu, taperebá, bacuri, buriti and açaí), both packaged in 300ml and 900ml bottles. The juices are sold in the market in the Metropolitan Region of Belém.
